Thank you to Brian Tinsman of POUNCE Solutions for sharing your story with us! Congratulations on being a finalist for the 30th Annual Loudoun Small Business Awards! View all finalists here and event info here.

Tell us the story of your business and how it’s evolved.

POUNCE Solutions began with a simple vision: there’s a better model for providing outsourced marketing support. We are a lean team of storytellers, providing tailored strategies and solutions to mission-driven organizations, especially nonprofits, that want to build meaningful connections in the community.

Over the last few years, we’ve expanded our team and the diversity of our client base, embracing the flexibility of remote work while refining our services to meet the unique needs of the organizations we serve. Today, we’re proud to be a fully remote agency that partners with mission-minded leaders and organizations across the country, delivering creative and results-driven marketing solutions to amplify their impact.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your team?

The heart of POUNCE Solutions is our team, which is both full-time employees and collaborative partners, in a transparent hub-and-spoke model. I’m incredibly proud of their dedication, problem-solving mindset, and ability to seamlessly blend creativity with strategy.

Our storytelling team is motivated to elevate the voices of our clients, whether it’s through building a strong brand foundation, planning omnichannel campaigns, or telling the stories that change hearts and minds.

Choosing to operate remotely has never been a barrier to collaboration — it has enhanced our ability to find diverse talent and keep overhead low. Each team member brings a unique perspective, and together, we’ve built a culture that values integrity, innovation, and making a difference.

In what ways do you give back to the Loudoun community?

This is a special place, and we were very intentional in choosing Loudoun as the location to set up shop for POUNCE. Every member of our team has lived in Loudoun County in the past or continues to call it home, and giving back to this community is at the core of what we do.

In addition to supporting our community clients like the Loudoun Education Foundation, Good Shepherd of Northern Virginia, the 7×24 Exchange DC Chapter, and Loudoun Coalition on Women and Girls, we also give our time, talent and treasure to causes with personal meaning.

Volunteerism is part of our culture, and our team members are encouraged to give back, even during business hours. I proudly serve as an instructor for the Loudoun Chamber’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy because economic empowerment is an essential skill. I also serve on the Rural Economic Development Council and the Board of Directors for the Loudoun Credit Union. As a business, we believe doing well can only be achieved by doing good.

What would it mean to you and your business to win a Small Business Award?

Winning a Small Business Award would be a significant milestone for POUNCE Solutions and a validation of our mission of doing things the right way. So much of our heart and soul has gone into bootstrapping this small business, and much of that toil happens out of sight of the public. The sacrifice required for success is a burden that’s shared by our families, so this big award is a small token of thanks for them.

Being recognized by the Loudoun Chamber would also reflect the trust and relationships we’ve built within the community. More than anything, it would inspire us to continue pushing boundaries and delivering even greater value to the client partners we serve.

Who is the one person that has influenced you the most in your career?

There are so many people who have been instrumental to my professional success, but the one person who has influenced me the most in my career is my wife, Kate. The most important thing in life is marrying the right person, and she has been my confidant, my inspiration, my sounding board, and a necessary voice in my echo chamber.

Before I co-founded POUNCE Solutions, I was the head of marketing and communications for Loudoun Economic Development, with government benefits and a clear career path. Having our first child during COVID, working from home, and seeing the resilience of our family and community was the inspiration I needed to pursue entrepreneurship. When POUNCE reached the tipping point to become a viable full-time pursuit, Kate encouraged me to take that leap.

As my family and business continue to grow, Kate continues to be the MVP. If you enjoy the good work that POUNCE does for our clients and community, thank her for empowering me.

What did you want to be when you grew up as a child?

I’ve always had the gift of gab and have known from a young age that storytelling was my calling. Growing up as the youngest in my family, I had to fight for airtime, which honed my ability to speak quickly and loudly—traits that have served me well in my career. Whether I’m pitching ideas to a client or crafting compelling campaigns, I’m living the dream by doing what I love every day at POUNCE Solutions.

When I’m not working, I’m constantly seeking out new stories, whether through books, podcasts, or personal experiences. Storytelling is not just my passion—it’s in my DNA, and it’s been the driving force behind POUNCE’s success in helping our clients make authentic connections with their audiences.

If you’re not in the office, where can we find you/what is another passion you have?

When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my family. They are my biggest motivation and the reason I put in early mornings, long days, and late nights for clients.

Outside of work, I love escaping to the woods, where I can unwind and reconnect with nature. Hiking, chopping wood, and tending to our flock of chickens, ducks, and peacocks is my way of staying grounded. It’s a bit of a contrast to the digital world I work in, but there’s something deeply fulfilling about the simplicity of caring for the land and our animals.

Whether I’m working or unplugging, I’m always driven by a desire to create—whether it’s crafting stories for clients or creating a peaceful, nurturing environment for my family.

How do you see your business evolving in the next 5 years?

In the next five years, I see POUNCE Solutions continuing to grow as a leader in providing marketing solutions for mission-driven organizations and finding ways for the client, community, and business to all win together.

We’ll further refine our services, embrace emerging technology, and expand into new areas of digital strategy, helping clients navigate an increasingly complex marketing landscape.

We also plan to invest more in the community, building stronger partnerships and fostering talent within the region. Ultimately, our goal is to make an even greater impact on the organizations we work with, helping them achieve sustainable growth and success.
