Where were born and raised and, if it was someplace else, when and why did you come to Loudoun? 

I was born in Macon, Georgia and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Loudoun in 1996, for job opportunities after completing my Master’s in healthcare at The Ohio State University.

When did you launch your first business and how did you get into your current line of work?

I officially launched my healthcare consulting company in 2006. In 2009, I expanded the company’s services by adding human resources and information technology consulting.

Have you had any special mentors or inspirations that influenced your career?

My mother owned a convenient store franchise. She was my first mentor and is my greatest inspiration. Witnessing her work ethic and business acumen helped shape my desire to become an entrepreneur.

What is the best part of your job and why?

The best part of being a business owner is the satisfaction of creating something from nothing, while creating employment opportunities for others.

What is it like owning/running a business in Loudoun?

Owning a business in Loudoun has afforded me the opportunity to get involved with the community and make an impact where I live.

What does Black Business Month mean to you?

Black Business Month has taken on a new significance for me, now more than ever. Black Businesses still face a number of challenges to include a lack of access to capital and business opportunities due to discriminatory practices and exclusion.  Black Businesses have the acumen, the creativity, the knowledge and even the manpower, but without access to capital and opportunities Black businesses continue to be  stifled.  For such a time as this, it is important to recognize the contributions that Black Businesses make to this country. I hope Black Business Month results in the  creation of an environment where Black Businesses are supported year-round and become an integral part of day-to-day life.

What are some of your favorite things to do when you are not working?

Traveling, watching Law and Order on repeat, and retail therapy.
