Finalist for Home-Based Business of the Year
1. What would it mean to you and your company to win a Small Business Award?
I feel as though I have already won. To be recognized as a finalist in our County’s most esteemed Small Business Awards means a great deal. I am honored to work with some of the top businesses in our County and to have the opportunity to play a role in their success. To me that is already a great reward.
2. What business person has influenced you the most?
My father taught me everything I know about working hard and being an involved member of the community. We were never fed by silver spoons, but taught how to earn a living to acquire such riches. My Dad was a humble man with wisdom beyond his years. Sending three kids to college and instilling in them the drive and determination to be the best they can be was a great gift. I work hard everyday to be that same role model to my children.
3. If you weren’t running your own business, what would you be doing?
If I were not running my own business, I am sure I would be helping to lead a charity. If I was closer to retirement, I would be living beachside and penning my first novel.
4. What book are you reading right now?
Any book by John Grisham. In another life I am certain I must have been an attorney. For any clients who are reading this, they know I am a keen negotiator. Grisham’s Gray Mountain is currently bedside at the moment.
5. What is your favorite app?
I love getting lost on a Sunday morning with a steaming cup of coffee and Pinterest. To me, Pinterest is the perfect escape from reality; a virtual dream board.
6. If you had a full 24 hours off, and your family was out of town, what would you do?
24 hours off – Great question. I would most likely check in to a nearby resort, visit the spa, enjoy a long dinner with my closest friends, stay up late talking, partake in a wonderful brunch and wrap up the day by visiting a few of our amazing Loudoun County wineries.
7. What is the smallest thing that has had the largest impact on your business?
When I was a young girl in college, my sights were set on joining the biggest and best PR firm in the world. That single decision to join the top firm upon graduation has shaped me into the businesswoman I am today, and for that I am proud. That single decision set me on my path and I have never strayed from this career choice.
