WiseChoice Healthcare Alliance offers small employers ways to improve healthcare, lower costs
The Loudoun Chamber has joined the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s statewide partnership with local chambers of commerce to offer the WiseChoice Healthcare Alliance to local employers with between 2 and 50 employees.
Why It Matters
- The WiseChoice Healthcare Alliance is designed to help improve healthcare outcomes for Virginia’s families while lowering costs for employers and employees.
- The Alliance is offered to small businesses statewide through a partnership between the Virginia Chamber and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield administers plans like WiseChoice in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Ohio.
“The Loudoun Chamber of Commerce is proud to provide this additional option to our small business and nonprofit employers, to help them keep their workforce healthier and their health benefit costs in check,” said Loudoun Chamber President Tony Howard.
Background
Known as a benefits consortium, WiseChoice was enabled by state legislation signed into law by Governor Glenn Youngkin in June of 2022. Through a benefits consortium, small businesses form one large, self-funded group to spread claims risk and lower administrative costs.
Small businesses account for more than 90% of Virginia’s employers.
