Ambassador Council Spotlight: Rick Van Dyke

Thank you to Rick Van Dyke of PuroClean Emergency Restoration Services for being our spotlight and for serving on the Ambassador Council!

What is your favorite part of being an Ambassador?

As a more deeply invested member of the business community through the position, I feel more empowered to help fellow members navigate the challenges businesses face.  I really enjoy bringing people into the warm business community we have and showing them how to take advantage of all the Chamber has to offer.  Sometimes just being a friendly face at a large, intimidating mixer is enough.   I’m finding these simple acts can really make a difference for people, and that feels great!

What makes your business unique in your industry?

PuroClean seeks quality over quantity when it comes to helping property owners recover from disasters and mishaps.   This means we don’t churn through property claims and employees.  We are trusted, industry-certified, compassionate, and experienced professionals who make “servant leadership” a part of our core identity.  And we are a full-service restoration company, which means we can not only clean up disasters, but we can put properties back together again all under one roof.

How has Chamber membership benefitted your business?

I have met so many wonderful fellow Chamber members to collaborate with!  Many have helped us work through our own business challenges, and in kind, we have been able to offer our experiences as well.  There is, of course, the business that comes in as a result of relationships made, but the real-life, shared business experience that can be tapped into has been better than any course I’ve taken or business book I’ve read.

What is your single best piece of advice to new Members so they can take full advantage of their membership?

Just Do It!  Once someone joins, they have to look at the Chamber calendar of events and attend anything that looks interesting.  They need to reach out to their assigned Ambassador.  They need to attend the monthly new member orientation to get an overview of all the benefits.  They need to start going to the monthly Business @ Breakfast events.   And more.  But they just need to do it! Make the investment of time and not just money or the benefits will not be there.
