The State of Mental Health

America is facing a growing mental health epidemic, and American business leaders are increasingly aware of the impact this crisis has on their workforce, customers, and the economy.

State and local leaders from healthcare, government, and criminal justice will share their perspectives on the causes and impacts of this crisis, and how the country needs to address it, when the Loudoun Chamber presents the 2024 “State of Mental Health” discussion.

This event will be headlined by Dr. John Littel, Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, who will discuss Governor Glenn Youngkin’s plans to address this mental health crisis, including a robust behavioral health plan, eliminating priority waitlist for Medicaid waiver slots, and building up our healthcare workforce.

In addition, Loudoun Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall and Loudoun Sheriff Mike Chapman will discuss the local government’s efforts to address mental illness at the community level. They will be joined by Dr. Bill Hazel, Executive Director of the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, and Rebecca Kiessling, Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Northern Virginia.
