Hispanic Heritage Month: Leslie Recino

Thank you to Leslie Recinos, of Local SEO, for answering our questions for Hispanic Heritage Month!

Where were you born and raised, and if it was someplace else, when and why did you come to Loudoun?

I was born in Arlington, VA, grew up in Reston, and moved to Loudoun County in 1998 when I was 9 years old. My parents came to this country in the early 1980s due to the war situation in El Salvador. At that time, they were able to seek asylum and knew they would have a better life here in the United States.

My parents received a flyer in the mail regarding new construction in Leesburg. We visited the model home, and that same day, my parents signed and chose a lot. At that time, Leesburg was very different than it is now, and I thought to myself, as a 9-year-old girl, I would be so bored there. I’ve been in Loudoun County since then and love seeing the growth through the years. Now, my kids go to the same elementary and middle school I went to!

Leslie Recinos headshotTell us about Local SEO and how long you’ve been in your industry.

My husband founded and started Local SEO in 2018. He has been in the industry for 10+ years. I joined forces with my husband in 2019.

My husband and I are very passionate about helping people. Through our business, we have helped multiple companies. In 2020, we did not know how COVID would affect us and other companies, but we ended up helping so many people through the COVID era. It was rewarding to hear people tell us that thanks to us, they were able to keep the doors open. Marketing is such an essential part of business, and we are happy to provide our expertise and services and be part of a business’s growth.

To this day, we continue learning and are always looking for new techniques to implement in our marketing strategies to help businesses succeed.

How did you get into this line of work?

My husband wanted to focus on the business’s ins and outs and did not have time to go out and network. I joined to help him with the business development aspect, and boy, am I glad I did. I have loved this journey and seeing the growth year by year. I love all the people and relationships formed through the years. I would do it all over again if I could.

Have you had any special mentors or inspirations that guided your career?

I have been blessed to meet so many people on this journey. I look at everyone around me as an inspiration and always take advice on where I can do better. It is so motivating to live in a county like Loudoun. I see a diverse range of businesses, and it inspires me to keep going. I love reading motivational business books. The one book that really changed my perspective was Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It really changed my way of thinking, and from there, it was go time.

What is the best part of your job and why?

Helping grow businesses with our Digital Marketing strategies. The part of our job is hearing people’s wins. Whether it’s them telling us they are opening a second location or need to hire more people because they are busy, it brings so much joy to what we do. The long hours are all worth it when you know you are helping people. As the internet changes daily, we are here to keep up with these changes and implement strategies to help our clients.

What is it like doing business in Loudoun/Northern Virginia?

We absolutely love doing business in Loudoun/Northern Virginia. This is home. Seeing the growth of the county and region year by year is amazing. I love seeing all the new businesses and being able to support people in any way that I can. That’s why the Loudoun Chamber is so important to me: I am able to connect with so many like-minded people.

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?

Hispanic Heritage Month reminds me of the fantastic culture I am blessed to be a part of. There are so many different Latin American countries, but we all appreciate and celebrate our culture. Although I was born here, and my kids were, we stay in touch with our heritage and are extremely proud to be first-generation Americans.

Favorite things to do when you are not working?

Be with my family. My family is very close, and we all like to see each other regularly. Whether it’s hanging out with my mom, and she makes her special Salvadorian dish (which my kids LOVE), or going to a winery with my sister and cousins, we love to explore the area. There are always new places to see and visit.
