- Tell us your story of how your company got to where it is today?
Battery Warehouse opened its doors in 1992 as a specialty battery shop featuring batteries for cars, motorcycles and a few select electronics. 25 years later, Battery Warehouse has grown to be Loudoun County’s go-to store for all your battery needs. Not only do we install car batteries, but we also install iPhone batteries and watch batteries for a reasonable price. We can also install batteries for golf carts and your boat if need be. We supply the local government and the school system with battery back-ups for their I-T departments and starting batteries for generators for local hospitals. Whatever your size project, come to Battery Warehouse in Leesburg!
- What would it mean to you and your company to win a Small Business Award?
It would be a great honor to be the recipient of such a prestigious award. Not only would it help us to generate exposure, but it would also be deserving recognition for all the hard working people at Battery Warehouse who work so hard day in and day out.
- If you weren’t running your own business/working at this business, what would you be doing?
If I were not running Battery Warehouse, I would probably be working for a robotics company. I have a background in electrical engineering and have always been fascinated with artificial intelligence, computers and robotics. Who knows, maybe one day we will be supplying the batteries for a robotics company.
- What book are you reading right now?
Unfortunately, all my time is spent running Battery Warehouse in Leesburg and looking for a new site for our business. As you may have heard, our store is scheduled for demolition to make way for condominiums, so we must find a new location. But, when I do get some down time, I spend time reading children’s bible stories to my two daughters.
- If you have 24-hours off, and your family was out of town, what would you do?
If I had 24 hours to do what I wanted to do I would catch up on sleep or maybe take in a good movie.
- What is the smallest thing that has made the largest impact on your business?
The smallest thing that has made the largest impact on our business is our service and our employees. We get a lot of positive feedback on our Facebook page and on Google regarding our good service and friendly atmosphere. We know that treating customers well is the right way to grow a business.
- What did you want to be when you grew up as a child? / What was a childhood dream that you had?
When I was young, I wanted to be an Astronaut. I was fascinated by space when I was a child. I guess that’s why I became interested in electronics at an early age. It also explains why I enjoy science fiction movies and why I became involved in the battery industry.
- Who is the one person that has influenced you the most in your career?
The person who has influenced me most in my career is my brother-in-law who also runs his own business. He gives me pointers on running a small business and serves as my sounding board when I have to make a big decision regarding the business.
- What is your favorite thing about running a business in Loudoun County?
My favorite thing about running a small business in Loudoun County is meeting people in the community. If the show “Cheers” was a battery store– it would be us. We are a neighborhood store where everyone comes to buy batteries or ask technical questions about their projects. Even the Mayor and local officials come down here to say hello. Our customers know that we are the ones to come to when they need technical advice on batteries or electronics.
- If you’re not in the office where can we find you?
When I’m not in the office, you will find me at home with my wife and kids, at the movie theater, or at my in-laws house.
- What is your favorite weekend activity in Loudoun County?
On weekends, my wife and I like taking the kids to the local Loudoun County farms for things like apple picking. We also enjoy movies at the Cobb Theater, and going to the bowling alley. This past holiday season we treated our employees to Christmas dinner at Smoke House Live!
Thank you to Battery Warehouse, and congratulations!
