Spotlight on the Finalist: Painting with a Twist
Thank you, Melanie & Jaye Bailey, owners of Painting with a Twist – Ashburn, for answering a few questions!
1. What would it mean to you and your company to win a Small Business Award?
We are so completely honored and humbled to be nominated that winning would be unfathomable. The other finalists/businesses are so great, too. Winning would just clarify that we are headed in the right direction and pleasing our customers and community.
2. What business person has influenced you the most?
Our founding members of Painting With A Twist, Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney, have been so influential. Though they have been hugely successful in their business endeavors, they put family and God first, and are huge contributors to their community and charities. Each month each studio holds a Painting With A Purpose event. We pick a local 501 c 3 charity, and whatever we raise for that event, 50% goes back to that charity.
3. If you weren’t running your own business, what would you be doing?
I would still be working in some area in law enforcement and finishing my doctorate in Forensic Psychology.
4. What book are you reading right now?
“Trail of Broken Rings,” by Sejal Badani……a touching and fascinating read
5. What is your favorite app?
I have to say I love Google Maps, because I have no idea where I’m at without it…haha
6. If you had a full 24 hours off, and your family was out of town, what would you do?
I think I would just go somewhere and people watch with my dog and just enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
7. What is the smallest thing that has had the largest impact on your business?
Joining the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce has really helped my husband, Jaye and I, become part of the community, learn about our community, and be able to give back to our community.
